Viña Peñalolen Cabernet Sauvignon Maipo Valley 2003 Tasting Notes
This Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon from Peñalolen shows the Bordelaise influence of its winemaker, Patrick Valette. It's not a big and overexcited wine like a California Cab, but it is a medium-bodied red that displays a pantheon of red fruit, underlayed with rustic briarwood, herbs, minerals and vanilla-oak. Supple in transition on the palate, balanced with a soft lazy finish. It's well-made, pairs easily with food, and offers a nice Cab value.
