Tasting Notes:
2004 The Crossings, Sauvignon Blanc
Marlborough, New Zealand
White gold with a tint of green hue, the wine is bright and lively showing citrus fruit on the palate consisting of lemon lime and yellow grapefruit. The ripe nose tells a different story showing lush melon, peach and banana flavors. The one-two punch creates a thrilling wine experience for a lazy Monday evening. Showing more zing and minerality than a ‘typical’ Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, which all too often is one dimension, dominated by ruby grapefruit on the nose and palate. The wine was a wonderful pairing with quasi-spicy shark soft tacos with guacamole, sour cream and heirloom tomatoes.
