Shafer Vineyards Chardonnay Red Shoulder Ranch 2003

Superb Chardonnay that has a history of high scores and admiring fans. This year is no exception. I found the fruit more forward than the 2002. Pear and orange dominated the fruit.Great wine to drink now and should get better over the next year or two. Cost $38. KnowItAll rating: 9 out of 10. Parker Rated 91.

The Shafer Chardonnay is indeed terrific. Bold enough to appeal to my American taste, yet subtle enough as to not overpower with girth. If you like the Napa Chardonnay's from 2001 - 2003, with Rombauer on the top of my list, then this is a great addition to your cellar.
