Peter Lehman Wines Shiraz Barossa Shiraz 2001 Tasting Notes
Barossa Valley's 2001 vintage was good, with the kind of heat that pushes ripe and full-bodied wines. Barossa's Shiraz is generally full-bodied to begin with so it's illogical to expect a lightweight red from them anyway. Onyx in color, Peter Lehmann's Barossa Shiraz is opulent and concentrated, purveying juicy black cherries and plums in the bouquet. The palate is a warm satiny cream with lively dark fruit, mocha, and herb flavors touched with toasted oak. It has a lovely finish with finesse for a big, guy type of wine. Go for it.
