Mas des Bressades Grenache Mas Grand Plagniol Rosè 2005 Tasting Notes
Let me clarify this Rosè from the get-go…it's delightful, it couldn't be better, I have no complaints. Imagine a hot and muggy summer evening outside on the veranda, and if you don't have one a patio will suffice, sipping this lovely and soft pink recuperative wine beverage. Any of the day's complaints softly bounce off like water droplets on Gore-tex. And trust me on this; I've always paused before any Rosè due to my inherent association with it to that perfidious and insipid White Zinfandel that rued the day for the wine-drinking public in the 1980's. Spare me and forget about it, drink Rosè. Costières de Nîmes is a French appellation that straddles the southern Rhône Valley and is part of the ill-defined the Languedoc-Roussillon. This area is known for Syrah, Grenache, and Rosè. It's a backwater AOC in France but don't stick one's Gallic nose up at the region, there are good-value wines to be found and this Rosè from Mas Grand Plagniol is one of them, blended from Grenache, Syrah, and Cinsault. It's a lovely pale and pure pink Rosè that has a lilting and refreshing bouquet of strawberries, citrus, and floral blossoms. Drink it chilled with bit of stinky French cheese and life skates by on rollerblades. The palate is rich, with a full body that contradicts the pale pink's image. Reinvigorating. Bon.
