Marquis Phillips Shiraz S2 2004 Tasting Notes
This wine is a monster. Anise, chocolate, ripe plum, and eucalyptus dominate the attack, which is formidable. Some like their wines as strong as cough syrup (like me) some don't. This is not for the timid. Texture is thick and chewy. This is a wonderful wine, so good you're tempted to just drink it without food and just graze on cheese and crackers. It's a meal in itself. I'm told that the partners, Dan Phillips and Sara & Spark Marquis, have had a falling out, so they are dumping the wine. These can now be had for great prices - look on wine-searcher or go to Wades Wines.
