Kim Crawford Wines Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough 2004 Tasting Notes
Kim Crawford Wines started as a garage winery in 1996. Crawford acted as a negociant, buying grapes, using various winery facilities, and running all the business operations from their tidy little family home in Auckland, New Zealand. They started with Chardonnay as their first wine but over the years added others to their wine portfolio. They also opened up a tasting room and cellar in Hawke's Bay and eventually set up their own winery in Marlborough.

Among their award-winning wines, their Sauvignon Blanc is consistently highly rated, year-in, year-out. Their 2004 vintage is a classic example of New Zealand's Sauvignon Blanc. Beautiful and clear crisp pale yellow, the wine releases distinctive aromas of citrus and tropical fruit that taper off with herb essence and flint. The palate is fruit-rich with apple and melon flavors and just the right amount of tang. The finish is bright and cheering, making the white wine a fine aperitif on a later summer evening and a good match with fish, shellfish, and chicken.
