Larry, just about all red wine has health benefits. If it's light and not too dry give Pinot Noir, syrah (shiraz, same thing but from Australia) and Zinfandel or maybe a young Barbera a try (a few Zin's can get a little heavy and dry) and steer clear of Cab's, Bordeaux, Barolo and Amarone. Here are some LTK pages that can also help you and your wife find the perfect red wine:

Greetings, My wife and I are thinking of beginning to drink a glass of red wine nightly for the health benefits. We were trying to find a good beginner red wine to get us started. Nothing too strong, dry or with a heavy body as it will probably turn my wife off. Is there a red that is slightly sweet and fruity but still has the health benefits? Thanks for your help. I like the website!
