Domaine Les Terrasses D'Eole Grenache Côtes du Ventoux 2003 Tasting Notes
The Côtes du Ventoux is in the Southern Rhône and produces lighter-bodied wines than Côtes du Rhône. There are excellent wine values throughout and this red is a good and easy-drinking example. Domaine Les Terrassses D'Eole is in the town of Mazan at the base of Mount Ventoux and is run by father-son team, Claude and Stephane Saurel. The satisfying Grenache-blend gives off a cheerful nose of red berries, herbs, and earth tones. The round and juicy palate shows cherries, cassis and raspberries touched with thyme, dried mushrooms, tobacco, and toasted oak. There's a solid structure with soft tannins and a tangy acidity that matches perfectly with earthy southern French cuisine. Cassoulet anyone?
