“Beef jerky meets big, round, plump, juicy berries”, says my wife. She does have an extremely acute palate, one that always reflects an interesting perspective.
Massive extraction a la New World and Super Tuscan in nature, displaying inky purple in color. Crushed black cherries and smoky spice dominate the nose with intensely concentrated black berries showing on the palate with a fruit cake/burnt rubber type of finish. Very interesting, however, if I were tasting the wine blind, the last grape varietal I would think of would be Sangiovese.
Whether that is a good or bad thing is up to you, however, I will pick up a couple more bottles at $9.99 a pop and lay them down to see what they have to offer in a couple more years. Pairs well with Greek Eggplant Lasagna.
