According to the company website this is a Zinfandel based blend. This was not readily apparent to this taster. Hazarding a guess as to the other components would be a foolish endeavor. Suffice to say that this is a very lovely, completely over the top red blend. Curiously no vintage year is given which only adds to the mystery. A conundrum that becomes increasingly difficult to ponder as the %15 alcohol kicks in. The finish is long and the rich fruit is quite lavish. In retrospect the Zinfandel makes sense as the typical brambly characteristic of the grape could be detected but something else was helping to smooth out the sometimes harsh aspect of Zinfandel. It was all dumb smiles at the table as this bottle slowly met its doom. If this is an accurate representation of the Cienega Valley, which is located outside of Hollister, CA, then it would seem this is a viticultural area to watch.
