The Advantages

The major advantage of exploring Wine Clubs as an avenue to broaden your wine horizons is that they're private. Many wine novices have the tendency to feel intimidated by public wine tastings when they discover that tastings aren't attended by only those who are new to wine, but also those who have a good amount of wine knowledge as well.

Not only is the intimidation a factor, so is the price. Relatively inexpensive wine tastings offer up a smaller selection of wine, but when you get to more in depth tastings (especially those conducted by a representative from the vineyard), the price increases, sometimes dramatically.

Starting a Wine Club

So, now that your interest is piqued in Wine Clubs it's time to take the next step and start your own! Your wine club doesn't have to be a stuffy affair, it can be anything you really want it to be. If you like casual, go with casual. If you like to get a bit dressed up, do that. All that's really required is a few bottles of wine and a few good friends to enjoy it (and the learning experience) with you!
