Cabernets are great and merlots are wonderful, but why not switch it up once in awhile with a couple of equally great and wonderful bottles of Red Blend? Wondering just what a red blend is? Glad you asked!

Blending Grapes

Okay, so wine can be complicated right? With the different aromas and nuanced flavor characteristics, it is sometimes downright confusing. Red Blends are one of those rare items in the wide world of wine that isn't so complicated. These wines are simply a blend of different grapes. That's it. It really is just that simple. Here are a few of the different grapes used to make a bottle of Red Blend:

  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Zinfandel
  • Syrah
  • Cinsault
  • Sangiovese
  • Carignane

The Flavors of Red Blends

Blending a Cinsault with a Merlot or a Cabernet Sauvignon with a Carignane gives the wine nuanced characteristic flavors of both grapes. Mixing the flavor characteristics of two, three or more different grapes makes for a completely new drinking experience for anyone who has never tried a red blend wine before. For those who are familiar with Red Blends, it makes for an experience they want to keep coming back to.
