Tasting Notes
Considering the price, this is an amazing wine. I’ve never tried a Carmenere that wowed me with its complexity but I’ve always been satisfied -- it is just good, rustic, single-dimensional grape juice that I can imagine drinking from a Bota bag while tramping in the hills.
Unlike other wines termed “rustic” Chilean Carmenere is usually soft around the edges. Sometimes a bit herbaceous and green, it’s a flavor characteristic that has grown on me. There’s something wild in this bottle, some joyful emotional outburst that was sealed under cork and is awaiting release. Chilean Carmenere has to be one of the best deals on the market these days.
