Tasting Notes
Another solid drink from Bonny Doon. The blend is comprised of a bewildering assortment of grapes: Syrah, Petite Syrah, Zinfandel, Carignane, Barbera and Malbec. Actually given the diversity the recipe doesn't really matter as no one characteristic is definable. What's important is that the wine is rich and satisfying for under $10. Apparently this is somehow an Italian inspired concoction but who knows. Any vinter who can throw this many grapes into a vat and come out with good juice deserves support and praise. Don't be scared off by the gimmicky packaging. I now publicly recant any former criticism of the Bonny Doon establishment. Drink with just about anything that requires red wine. Also a good pick to serve to guests or bring to parties. The man I saw at Trader Joes hefting a case was clearly onto something.
