A-Mano Primitivo Puglia 2003 Profile
Primitivo is primarily grown in Puglia in southern Italy where the warm growing conditions creates heavy, blunt wines once used mainly for blending. However recently the grape was established to be identical to the American Red Zinfandel, raising it from relative obscurity. It now currently only takes backseat to another heavy hitter from Puglia, Negroamaro.
With 2003 scorching most of Europe, the wine is impressive compared to other overripe, flabby wines tasting more like prune juice recently tasted from the same region.
